About Us:

My family started out with Standard Poodles back in the 60’s in San Antonio, Texas.  Our first 2 poodles were Bobo and Mimi.  My Dad showed Bobo and his first time out in the show ring Bo won Best of Breed over some of the top dogs from the puppy class.  My first time showing Bo was in a fun match when I was still in elementary school. We took a group 2, I was so excited.  They were both very loving, protective, wonderfully smart dogs.  We moved to Fraser, Michigan in 1974 and Bo and Mimi passed away.  They would be sorely missed.

The year was 1975, my father and brother took up duck hunting.  My father took mom to look at different hunting breeds at a Ducks Unlimited hosted Sport-O-Rama yearly in Flat Rock, Michigan at Pointe Mouille.  She saw a magnificent well-conditioned, beautiful specimen of a dog.  She told dad that if he wanted a retriever that was kind he was going to have to get.  He turned out to be a Chesapeake Bay Retriever.   We searched high and low and found our first chessie Sheba.  Sheba was an outstanding retriever and everything about her was "Chesapeake" but, when we entered her in a conformation show and a ribbon was denied we found out how little we knew about the breed.  We launched ourselves into reading everything and anything about the breed.  We found a wonderful dog Duke, the Arnold  Schwarzenegger of Chesapeakes.  And then we found Bambi, a gorgeous girl with a fabulous coat and personality.  They were the foundation to the Parklake Chesapeake lines, some of the top dogs in the country.  Besides numerous champions, and working dog titles the Parklake kids included a BISS (Best in Specialty Show) winner, numerous supported entry winners, multiple group wins, invitational show winners, a picture in Life Magazine, interviews on 9 and 10 news, and one of their prodigy even ended up on Animal Planet (Oscar) for saving his owner from a robbery.  During these years I learned so much about proper conformation, handling and training.  I learned from some of the best handlers in the country, and always enjoyed giving them a run for their money when in the ring against them.  I even began to show horses in local shows.  In 1998 I was invited to be the first or one of the first to start teaching Pet First Aid and CPR in Michigan by the American Red Cross.

So where do the poodles come back into my life?  Well, my husband wanted a small lap type dog, and then my search began and Sammie came into our lives.  Unfortunately cancer and the effects of radiation ended my showing career.  Not too long after my husband Jeff flipped his semi truck and suffered a TBI (traumatic brain injury).  My love for the fur babies and family make it easier to get up everyday and be happy to be alive even in the toughest of times.  While we don’t have litters very often I do strive to produce the nicest kids possible when we do.  I want others to have what we do, nice healthy happy dogs to love and cherish.  I am always happy to speak to anyone about dogs even if they aren’t one of mine.  Anyone who owns one of my grandbabies can call me 24/7 for advice as I brought them into this world and its my job to make sure they have the best homes possible! 1-989-539-7789
